Glossary

Common terms used across the KSI VISION platform and this documentation.

TermDefinition
Analytics Point (AP / PA)A camera dedicated to analytics. It is the sizing and pricing unit of most plans — e.g., 1 AP per entrance, per store, or per 450 m² of common areas.
API tokenPersonal credential used to authenticate against the KSI API and the MCP server. Generated from "My Profile" in the platform; each user connects with their own.
BounceA visit shorter than a configured minimum duration (e.g., under 2 minutes), excluded from visit metrics so brief pass-throughs don't distort behavior indicators.
Capture ratePercentage of people passing in front of a space that actually enter it. See Capture Rate.
Counting lineVirtual line drawn on a camera view (door, aisle, checkout). Every anonymous trajectory crossing it is counted as an entry or exit. See People Counting.
Conversion ratePercentage of visitors who end up buying (tickets ÷ visitors). See Conversion Ratio Metrics.
Data patchingControlled statistical reconstruction of missing hourly data when the original data cannot be recovered. Always manual, traceable, and reversible. See Data Integrity.
Digital TwinThe virtual representation of a physical space (store, mall) built from all its combined metrics — counts, zones, flows, dwell, queues.
Dwell timeHow long visitors remain in a space or zone. See Dwell Detection.
HeatmapAggregated visualization of presence or movement intensity over a floor plan, by day and hour. See Heatmaps.
MCP (Model Context Protocol)Open standard that lets AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Codex…) query KSI data as tools. See MCP Connection.
NodeThe edge server installed on the client's premises that processes camera streams locally and sends only anonymous metadata to the platform.
OccupancyNumber of people present in a space at a given moment. See Occupancy Detection.
Primary / secondary countWhen two counting lines measure the same store access (e.g., mall and retailer both using KSI), the line with the more precise implementation audit becomes the primary count; the other is kept as secondary. See Tenant Growth guide.
REID (anonymous re-identification)Technique that recognizes — without any identity — that anonymous appearances belong to the same visit, enabling unique-visitor metrics and entry–exit matching. Never uses biometric identification.
SAT (queue saturation)Indicator that relates queue demand to service capacity to detect saturation windows. See Queue Saturation.
Staff filterAutomatic exclusion of employees, guards, and suppliers from visitor metrics, based on repetition patterns. See Repetition Filter.
SublocationA measured area inside a location — checkouts, fitting rooms, sections, or zones — with its own metrics.
TagLabel that classifies stores (by type, region, brand, category) to enable grouped analysis and benchmarking — e.g., "Anchor Stores", "Flagship", "LATAM".
TenantA store operator inside a mall. Also a platform role that lets a user see only the analytics of their own store(s).
TransitionA connection between floors — stairs, escalators, elevators, ramps — measured to understand vertical flows in multi-floor spaces.
ZoneA delimited area of a space (corridor, food court, wing, restrooms) with its own traffic, dwell, and flow metrics. Zones must not overlap and are bounded by physical limits.
